What Is Reflective HTV?

Reflective Heat Transfer Vinyl uses prism technology to achieve retro-reflectivity. Prisms are more efficient than glass beads, so the reflected light is brighter. This material is somewhat thinner and more flexible than fabric. HTV Silver Reflective is a vinyl material supplied on a mylar carrier. You cut this material on your vinyl cutter in reverse, or mirror, image. Then weed away the excess and use the sticky carrier to place the design on the garment. NOTE: Reflective HTV Vinyl should be heat-pressed, not sewn onto garments.

What is Reflective Fabric?

Reflective Fabric utilizes coated glass beads to reflect incoming light back toward its source. It is encapsulated onto a Poly-Cotton blended fabric (65% Polyester, 35% Cotton) and laminated with our Permanent P600 5-Mil Adhesive. The 3M reflective fabric is a durable fabric with a heavy hand, both washable and dryable. 3M Silver Applique material is intended for applique projects and can be either sewn or heat pressed to the garment. The best way to cut this material is with a laser, but you should be able to cut it on any equipment designed for applique fabric. It has permanent adhesive on the back, so can be heat pressed or sewn, according to your preference. 3M Reflective fabric does NOT come on a carrier, and is cut in direct, or face-up, image. 

Application Instructions

Our proprietary Hot-Melt Adhesives are manufactured in-house and can be used to coat your own fabric. PS960 and PS965 come on a mylar carrier and feature a pressure sensitive tack for repositioning. PS960 adhesive is perfect for embroidery applications, whereas PS965 is intended for laser-cut no-sew applications. P600 is  heat activated adhesive  available in 3 thicknesses to suit many different applications. Choose 1.5 mil for temporary embroidery tack or to cover up threads after embroidering patches.  5 mil is permanent heat-bond  for no-sew projects or iron-patches. Use your heat press to bond fabrics to the adhesive, then use your craft cutter or desktop plotter to cut then weed your designs. Our adhesives are designed for use with cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, fleece, and acrylics. Tackle Twill is an ideal fabric for creating logos and numbers for sports jerseys. But without a coating of Heat Press Adhesive, it can be a difficult and flimsy material to use. 16.5" Polyback Sports Twill features an anti-fray thermal adhesive backing (P600 1.5-Mil 16.5 Polyback) that completely seals the twill yarns and provides stability for cutting + sewing onto garments. Its polyester-based coating has no PVC and can be cut easily on plotters, dies, lasers or even hand-cut. NOTE: Can be heat pressed to hold the design in place, but it must be sewn to prevent fraying. We offer Sports Twill in a variety of different adhesive-backings, including PSA Twill, Permanent and PSA Permanent. Polyback is our name for Tackle Twill fabric with a thin, low-tack adhesive backing, commonly referred to as "Heat Seal" or Poly Twill, and competes against Stahls' CAD-CUT^® Poly-TWILL in the marketplace. We offer 3 types Metallic Foils: HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl) Foil, Textured Foil and Holographic Foil. All of our HTV Foils are designed for use with plotter cutters, desktop or craft cutters, or on laser cutters to create custom patterns that are sure to dazzle! For a smooth, mirror-like look that's popular with dance apparel, use Silver and Gold HTV Foil on half-tops, shorts, bra tops, pants and brief trunks. Mix and match with HTV Glitter and HTV Sports Film to create your unique design! All of our HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl) products feature a Polyester-based Adhesive backing that can be heat-applied directly onto garments. This removes the need for complicated 2-step transfers. Transfer Tapes - Heat transfer tapes are used to preserve spacing in designs while moving from your cutter to the heat press. Green tape has a higher tack for use with multiple layer twill or fabric designs. White heat mask is for single layer designs or vinyl transfers. Release Papers - Add texture to your HTV designs for an upgraded look. Use in the same manner as Brown Kraft or Teflon cover sheets. Options include Pebble Grain, Twill Grain, as well as Brown Kraft sheets and White Gloss sheets. Pebble Grain imitates the appearance and texture of leather, similar to a basketball or football. Twill Grain imitates appearance and texture of Tackle Twill fabric.
